HOT YOUNG DESIGNERS

The Hot Young Designers Marketing Company (HYD) is a local partnership established in 2011 by business partners, Ginger Arboleda and Sharon Teng. HYD’s advocacy is to discover fresh, young and talented Filipino designers and equip them with the necessary business skills and opportunity to start their own collections.

HYD’s Fashion Face Off 2011 is a nine month long competition where five amazing designers compete to create ready to wear collections and earn the highest sales. Klart Lim was among the five chosen designers along with Renan Pacson, Jackie Abueg, Marc Blanco and Bailey Dava.

“I ❤ BARCELONA” Collection

Inspired by the Catalan architecture, the line comes in a soft muted palette with rusty hues and contrasts of red, blue, and yellow. It epitomizes a vintage look with easy, chic basics that are enlivened by borrowing geometric motifs from the thriving 1920s art scene. The influence of Antoni Gaudi was subtle, manifesting in things like the uneven hems of the “Haralda” skirt, the backless detailing of the “Deborah” maxi dress, and the decorative gold shaft buttons. Effortlessly chic and elegant, this collection will totally give you a vintage feel, but with a fun, modern, sexy twist! (Photography: Noreen Claire Legaspi)

“HELLO, SEXY!” Collection

Inspired by the New York City lights, the line showcases Spring 2012’s trend on glitz and glamour with flashy pieces that consists primarily of all party dresses bedecked with glitter, sequins, and metallics. The silhouettes include fit-and-flare sleeveless mini-dresses, slim-fitting party dresses with open slit sleeves, and sleeveless dresses with a v-shaped neckline and cascading ruffles. All dresses were built around contrast materials such as crepe, and chiffon, creating a sheer feminine texture throughout the collection. (Photography: EJ Arboleda)
